Այս տարի լրանում է 19-րդ դարի նշանավոր հայ աշուղներից Ջիվանու (իսկական անունը՝ Սերովբե Բենկոյան) 175-ամյակը։ Նա ծնվել է Հյուսիսային Հայաստանի Կարծախ գյուղում։ Անվանի աշուղի գրչին են պատկանում շուրջ 1200 երգեր։
Ջիվանու երգերը, արդիական բոլոր ժամանակների համար, արմատացել են մեր ժողովրդի մեջ՝ հարազատանալով և դառնալով ժողովրդական։
1870-1890-ական թվականներին հասարակական մտքի վերելքի և ազգային-ազատագրական շարժման ընթացքում Ջիվանու սիրային և քնարական երգերը փոխարինվեցին ազգային բողոքի և պայքարի երգերով։ Այս առումով Ջիվանին իր ժամանակի նորարարն էր. նա հայրենասիրական երգը մտցրեց առօրյա կյանք, ինչպես նաև ստեղծեց իսկական ազգային աշուղական արվեստ՝ օգտագործելով հայ հոգևոր և ժողովրդական երգերի մեղեդային կառուցումը և տարրերը։ Նա խորապես համոզված էր, որ երաժշտության մեջ անհրաժեշտ է առաջ մղել ազգային սկզբունքը։
Ջիվանին քարոզում էր ձգտել դեպի լուսավորություն ու գիտություն, սիրել հայրենիքն ու ընտանիքը, սեփական աշխատանքով հաց վաստակել, երբեք չհուսահատվել, քանի որ «ձախորդ օրերը կուգան ու կերթան»։
Հայրենի Կարծախում գործում է Ջիվանու տուն-թանգարանը, իսկ Արցախի Մարտունու շրջանում կա աշուղի պատվին անվանակոչված գյուղ (լուսանկարը` վերևում), որ 2020 թ․-ից գտնվում է ադրբեջանական զինված ուժերի ժամանակավոր անօրինական օկուպացիայի տակ։
